Okay, so I was reviewing my site today. I'm redesigning it, so I've been getting ideas on how I want to do it. I've been looking at other sites that might be similar in nature to mine. So today, I went back to my site, just looking at things. I was watching one of the shows and noticed that the audio was a little off on it. Then I thought, "Gosh, I wonder if any of the other ones are off."
I start looking over all my shows and discover about a third of them have the audio off. I can't figure out why the audio is off. Then I realize that when I exported them through Final Cut Pro, all the ones where the audio is off, I exported as Quick Time Movie. The later ones I exported as Quick Time Conversion. I'm hoping that makes a difference....because it is really going to be a pain and take a lot of time to have to redo all these shows. It's just frustrating.
I can't believe I haven't heard from anyone that the audio is off. They've been seen and shown several times on my site and youtube...and no one has said anything...I guess people aren't really caring. It's not off by that much, but I can definitely tell....
Oh, I was just following someone on Twitter...a famous person...and they misspelled such a common word. I was shocked. I mean this person is on TV every week, and he can't spell a simple word. I'm hoping he was in a hurry and mistyped it or something??!!
That is such a pet peeve of mine...misspelling. Even if I'm texting someone, and I accidentally misspell a word, I have to go back and fix it. Oh, and I just can't stand grammar mistakes. If you're not sure if you're using the word correctly, then don't use it. Use another word. There's nothing more frustrating then reading someone's work and coming across a misspelled or incorrectly used word. By the way, if you ever notice these mistakes on my site or blog, please don't hesitate to point them out to me. I would love you for it.
I know we all get in a hurry or don't realize we are misspelling a word...that's what friends are for. To help us fix those problems. I consider you a friend, so I hope you would do me the honor of telling me any mistakes I make. After all, I'm only human...and make mistakes too.

Finding Your Passion and Following Your Dreams
I'm a 34 year old female who is not married and has no kids. I never started out thinking I would still be single, but all along in finding my passion, I've never wavered in one thing...following my heart. I've spent most of my adult life trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my career. Like many people, after high school, I went straight to college. I graduated with a marketing degree...and again, like so many people, not know really what I wanted to do in life. My dad told me to go into sales, because I had the personality for it.
I tried to sell copiers and fax machines, and I absolutely hated it. I hated the cold calls and feeling like I wasn't achieving anything. I didn't give it much time, before I quit and went back to school for my MBA. I went part time, while working two jobs. For my last semester, I went to Norway for an exchange program. This is where my mind started opening up. In recent years, I had discovered how much I enjoyed traveling. In Norway, I met some amazing people from all over the world. I soon realized we are all more alike than we are different. I also discovered so much about myself. I love learning about people, cultures, and places. I love learning as much as I can about as much as I can.
When I returned from Norway, I moved from the DFW area to Los Angeles. I thought I wanted to act. One of my friends told me to try a talk show. I thought, "I don't really have anything to say." I soon figured out that although I may not have much to say, many other people do. I also realized that I have plenty to say as well. So I had a talk show in Los Angeles for two years, and I loved it. I loved it so much, I knew that I had finally found what I wanted to do in my career...and I was 30.
No one ever tells you that you won't know what you want to do when you graduate college the first time. When I went back for my MBA, I even took other classes, painting, acting, writing, just to try and figure out what I wanted to do. I thought, "Well, I don't know what I want to do, but I can narrow it down little by little and tell you what I don't want to do."
After having my talk show in Los Angeles for two years, I moved back to DFW, because I wanted to be able to grow and expand my talk show. I got my third college degree, in broadcast journalism. I thought this would give me more credentials for my talk show. My classes did teach me to edit, film, and put the whole show together by myself.
When I graduated this third time, I didn't want to get a reporting job. In order to have a talk show, so many people told me I needed to be a reporter and move up from there. I didn't have any desire to be a reporter, in the traditional sense of the word. I want to report on the things that the public finds important, not on what corporate deems necessary. I wanted to have the flexibility to talk to people, to hear their stories, to know how they have come to be....I wanted to have a forum for the people.
So I started my online video talk show, The Jessica Rector Show, where real people share real life experiences. It is a place where people are cared for, listened to, and helped. They help others by getting their story out, so others don't feel so alone in thier situation. They open minds, inspire, motivate, and empower. Think back to when you heard that story...that story that in some way impacted your life. Your perspective changed...your thoughts expanded...you now saw that issue or person a little differently. A story can make a difference and change the world. And that's what I want to be a part of. I want to help people help others through tellling their story..through sharing their life experience. We all want to know that someone, somewhere has been through something similar, or we want to know where we can go to for help, for reassurance, for openness. We want to be able to talk about things that are happening in our own lives.
I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to settle..in my personal or professional life. It has taken me a long time, but I have found my dream career. This has come through so much tenacity and persevance, but it's worth it. When you want something bad enough, there's really no stopping you from achieving it. No amount of "No's", time, or negativity can sway you away from your passion. If you have that undeniable desire to make your dreams a reality, follow your heart, and they will come to fruition.
I'm doing a business plan to find investors, so I can grow and expand my show. I believe everyone wants to help others, and just by telling your story, you can. Imagine the world we would live in, if everyone told their story to help change the world.
I realize that being unmarried with no kids may make following your dreams easier. In reality, it is never easy. Yes, I don't have other people who depend on me, but if you're married, you have someone to help support your dreams. The thing is there is always going to be someone who has it easier, someone who has more to start with, someone who is better looking, smarter, funnier, more qualified. Don't focus on these negative, because there's plenty of people who will be negative enough. You need to remain positive and think, "I may not be the smartest person, but I can.....(you fill in the blank) sell a pen." I was once told that if you can sell a pen you can sell anything. Try it on someone. If you can sell a pen, you can sell yourself. And that's what life is about, being able to sell yourself...not all obvious and in your face. But when you go for a job, meet a client, befriend a stranger...you are selling yourself.
So get to know yourself, put your best foot forward, and go selling...because sooner or later, you'll meet the right person, and boom! You'll have your chance to make your dreams your reality. No matter what anyone else says, picture it happening, believe in yourself, and it will come true. But you have to take the steps to make it happen. Get off your couch, because it's not going to happen if no one knows about you! Everyone has a dream, but it won't happen by sitting on your couch and hoping and praying it will. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your success. Go after it! Don't stop! Don't take "No" for an answer! And most importantly, don' t every stop believing in yourself, your skills and abilities, and your desire for a better life!
